A new independent restaurant focussed on supporting LOCAL

What’s on in Baldock

Looking for a great place to eat in North Herfordshire? Eight, Baldock is a cosy bar & restaurant on Whitehorse Street in Baldock. It’s the concept of local chef Kish Raheja, where supporting LOCAL is at the heart of almost everything we do. We utilise local produce including fruit & veg from our allotment less than a mile away from the restaurant.

We’re also proud to serve locally-produced gin, IPA, dry-aged beef and gelato as well as locally roasted coffee beans.

LOCAL seasonal menu & Handcrafted cocktails

Our menus are seasonally driven with a Mediterranean influence. Kish has a unique cooking style. He loves to work with the best possible produce locally available and cooks it with minimal fuss to allow the quality of the produce to shine through. Everything apart from our gelato is made in-house as Kish is passionate about making everything from scratch.

Our Sunday Roast menu utilises the best in locally sourced produce with our dry aged beef from Corneybury Farm, just outside Buntingford, our free range pork from Dunmow in Essex & our outdoor reared lamb from a small holding in South Cambridgeshire. See our locality sourcing page to see just how local our produce is!

  • What a lovely place to have dinner in Baldock!

The atmosphere was warm and inviting, all the servers and managers were all in a good mood which made us very excited to experience the food here. The tira misu martini was exceptional. The goat cheese starter was deli but too small for sharing. The gnocchi was tasty too, it’s sure to say everything you’ll have here will be delicious and of high quality! The one note we would have is that it was sometimes hard to get the attention of our server but they were gracious with us when they were with us. I’d love to return soon :)

A really good quality and standard of food, drink and great atmosphere. Can’t wait for the Spanish-themed night. I visited restaurant Eight in Baldock with a friend and it was truly a memorable experience. Initially we went to have a light bite, but the food was so good that we ended up with a 3-course meal and plenty of delicious cocktails. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. • Cocktails are mixed to perfection.

I've been lucky enough to visit 4 times now. The crispy chicken dumplings and the cod cheeks are favourites of mine. Cocktails are mixed to perfection - the After Eight espresso martini is awesome! If you're going for brunch the pancakes are deliciously light and fluffy, the best I've ever tasted. All topped off with impeccable service from Kish and team!
